Finally, our departure to Budapest from Belgrade begins. A lovely 8-hour Flixbus awaited us at 8AM, and this time we reserved seating as we didn’t want to risk being apart for the long journey that awaited us. Unfortunately, another bus fee made our wallets a little lighter. If anything, I was glad to be going north as I read it was a Balkan custom to charge a bus station fee.

It was a weird feeling travelling towards Serbia. It was hard not to have a preconceived perception of what Serbia was like. Would they be as hateful and evil as the Bosnians described? Would I be sharing the streets with those who sniped Children from the mountains that shadowed Sarajevo and her history?

It’s 10:30 PM as we arrive on the lightly lit streets of Sarajevo. Our bus wasn’t as full as when we departed Dubrovnik, as individuals left for earlier stops such as Movistar, where in it’s own right is a very popular destination within the Balkans.

Our next trip to Dubrovnik would be the last that all 4 of us would remain together until we met again back in Sydney. Therefore, it was time to soak up the sun that covered the coast of Croatia.

A smooth flight from Athens had landed us in the heart of Istanbul. From getting off the plane, you could already tell this place meant business. The size of the airport was astronomical!

After a stressful arrival to Athens, we could finally enjoy the ancient treasures the mainland has to offer. From the ancient ruins of the Parthenon to the medieval monasteries that sat level with the sky in Meteora, it felt as if the world was our oyster.

It’s the 2nd of May in Mykonos, Greece. Our group has a ferry scheduled for 11:40 the next day, to travel from Mykonos to Piraeus (Athens main port).
