Top 5 - Equipment
The top 5 pieces of equipment will exclude the ‘big 3’ that was discussed under the ‘the basics’ tab. It will only involve equipment I’ve used that has greatly improved my trips whether it be backpacking or camping.
I’d also like to point out that it is just my personal opinion and might not reflect that of the wider camping community.
I will also be providing non-affiliated links that will help you make the buy if interested!
Without further or do let’s jump straight into it!
1 - Pathfinder SS 32 oz. Bottle-Cup-Stove Cook Set
The Pathfinder’s cook set has proven to be a valuable and very much-used piece of equipment. The set includes a 1L bottle, a 750mL mug, and a stove. This allows me to have a substantial amount of water in the bottle, a coffee or alcoholic drink through the mug, and the ability to cook up coffee or even food through the stove.
The best part of all, it connects into 1 unit which allows me to save bag space and keep them close together at all times.
I strongly encourage the Pathfinders set if you’re looking for a solid water system.

The Vanquest Maximiser has earnt its place in the top 5 for its ruggedness and fantastic organisational features.
As most campers are looking to keep their belongings categorized and separated into their bag, the Vanquest Maximiser allows you to store equipment such as tongs, water filters, matches, toothbrushes, and toothpaste all in one area. A perfect product for organisation!

5 - Bahco Laplander Folding Saw
Finishing the list is the Bahco Laplander Folding saw. A lot of campers will ideally go with the tradition of bringing an axe. Despite the axe being more powerful, the Bacho is not to be underestimated.
So why bring a Bahco over an axe? Firstly, the weight. Backpackers are always looking to dispose of unnecessary weight, and the Bahco is only 200g. Secondly, its concise cutting allows you to manage your logs a bit better, subsequently leading to longer fires.
To top it off, it folds! A great utility piece for both camping and backpacking.
